6 February
After a flat out long weekend our PYO Moorparks are now finished!
PYO Nectarines should be starting this coming Saturday, as long as we get some hot days.?
We will still have boxes of 2nd grade apricots available on the Stall throughout this week.
Plums and Red Gravenstien apples are on the Stall as well.☺
The Bon Chretien pears are still about a week away and the Black Doris and Omega plums are a few weeks away. ?
Will keep you posted ?
On another note a well loved teddy bear was found in the Orchard this afternoon. Give us a ring if it belongs to you and we’ll courier it back home….It is currently safe and sound in the house sipping a coffee and reading the ODT…?
3 February
This long weekend we have PYO Moorpark apricots on the go!?
It took a few days but the immature fruit remaining on the trees has ripened up nicely and there is plenty out there for everyone ?
PYO Roxburgh Red apricots are winding down now and we should be finishing them on Saturday or Sunday.?
The next variety of PYO nectarines are about a week away.
On the Stall we have Shiro, Black Amber and Billington plums available in 3.3kg boxes for $10.☺
We also have a wide range of 2nd grade Clutha Gold and Steven Favourite apricots available as well as Red Gravenstein apples which are our first apple of the season.
Our Cox’s Orange and Royal Gala apples will be starting in early March as usual. 🙂
Remember we are open every day between the hours of 7am – 9pm, 7 days a week until the end of May.
You can contact us anytime on 027 210 6457 or 03 446 8585 for weather or fruit updates.

Fruit Update! ☺
Our PYO Moorparks will resume on Saturday (February 4) and should continue into the middle of next week. There are still plenty out there so don’t worry if you can’t make it up on Saturday.
We had to give them a break this week to allow the remaining fruit to ripen up. Have I mentioned before that this lack of a summer has been a pig of a thing!? ?

30 January
Today was a lovely hot day and was enjoyed by all of us here on the Orchard.
Due to a huge influx of PYOers the past few days, we are suspending PYO Moorparks until Friday (February 3) to allow the remaining fruit to ripen up 🙂
There is still plenty out there, they just need to work on their tan ?
The ridiculous lack of summer weather throughout January has caused the fruit to ripen unevenly. Mum says this season is the most unsettled she has seen in her 27 years of orcharding. ?
We have plenty of PYO Roxburgh Red apricots still available and should have them until Saturday.
The Roxburgh Red are sweet and full of flavour this season so are perfect for eating, bottling, freezing and jam ☺
Mum’s been flat out in her limited spare time bottling and jamming (with the occassional bit of freezing as well) 😉
On the Stall we have Shiro and Black Amber plums available in 3.3kg boxes for $10 and Red Gravenstein apples in 2.5kg bags for $5.
We have a wide range of 2nd grade apricots available as well
28 January
The sun was out today so it was another busy day on the Orchard. ☺
The first variety of nectarines are now finished with the next variety due in about 10-14 days time.
Roxburgh Red and Moorparks are the only two apricot varieties available for PYO now.
Tomorrow, Sunday, is not supposed to be flash with Monday being our next fine day so probably best to give tomorrow a miss if possible as picking in the rain can be a bit of a nuisance!?
On the Stall we have a range of 2nd grade boxes of apricots available and we have just started our Red Gravenstein apples (our very first apple variety of the season) and have them in 2.5kg boxes for $5.
The Billington Plums still aren’t quite ready for eating fresh just yet but we were asked to put some of the tart ones on the Stall for all the sauce makers as they are our very first red plum of the season.
We have them in 5kg boxes for $10-00.
Shiro plums are still a few days away.
Greengages and Bon Chretien pears will be late this Season so probably about two weeks away.
Will keep you updated! ?
25 January
PYO Moorparks will start this Saturday as planned. 🙂
PYO Roxburgh Red apricots are in full swing as I write.
Roxburgh Red are a great apricot for bottling, freezing and eating.
PYO of the first variety of nectarines is well underway with the next variety coming up in about two weeks time so you won’t miss out if you can’t get up at the moment.
Because of the bizarre weather conditions, we have been forced to cancel all Courier Orders of apricots. So sorry everybody..?
But on a brighter side; on the Fruit Stall we have boxed Peeka and Stevens Favourite apricots. Both are a flavorsome apricot and there will be a few boxes of Valley Gold apricots as well.
All Stevens Favourite pre-orders will be ready for pickup next week.
Weather wise it looks like it’s going to be good day. There was a brief shower before but it appears to have passed. ?

22 January
Well the weather was absolutely shocking today!
Actually it was appalling but to my surprise a few brave hearted folk challenged the weather conditions to pick their own ‘Roxburgh Red’ and ‘Valley Gold’ apricots.
They all deserve a medal!?
But there is good news!!
Tomorrow is going to be a fantastic, fine, rain free day so we will be starting our PYO nectarines. 🙂
We also have plenty of PYO ‘Roxburgh Red’ and ‘Valley Gold’ apricots available as well as boxed 1st and 2nd grade apricots on the Stall.☺
‘Moorpark’ apricots appear to be still on track with a start date of January 28th and ‘Billington’ plums should be available on the Stall from around mid-week.
We will keep you posted!

20 January
We have PYO Roxburgh Red and Valley Gold apricots starting tomorrow (Saturday January 21). ☺
We were inundated today so have now finished our PYO ‘Sundrop’ apricots.
The last of our ‘Sundrop’ are being used to stock the Stall and should be available until Monday. 🙂
‘Moorpark’ apricots should be ready to roll around the 28th of January.
Our first variety of nectarines should be starting on Monday (January 23rd)

January 19
The weather bomb hit us with a vengeance this morning.
Power lines dropped into the River Block after a tree broke the lines and twisted a power pole.
A great bunch of Delta boys were on the job in no time so the PYO Sundrops were available again from lunchtime. ?
A few brave PYOers faced the weather conditions to get their bottling, freezing and stewing fruit. They deserved a medal for their courage. 😉
PYO Sundrops are still available and the Stall is always well stocked. Sundrops will be finished this Saturday or Sunday. 🙂
Our ‘Duff’s Early Jewel’ plums took a hammering so they are now finished.
The Billington plums weren’t affected by the storm but are still a few days away from ripening.
The PYO Nectarines will probably start on Monday.
PYO Roxburgh Red and Valley Gold apricots will definitely start on Saturday.
All the other fruit looks good so no worries in that department. 🙂
Give me a ring on 027 210 6457 or the Fruit Stall on 03 4468585 if you want a fruit or weather update anytime.
It appears tomorrow may be a decent day so everyone keep your fingers crossed
18 January
The weatherman tells me we will have a bit of patchy rain later on in the afternoon. It may eventuate, it may not! Who knows! ?
Give me a ring on 027 2106457 or the Fruit Stall on 03 4468585 if you want a weather update.
PYO Sundrops are still available and the Stall is always well stocked.
Sundrops will be finished this Saturday or Sunday.
PYO Roxburgh Red and Valley Gold apricots will start this Saturday. 🙂
At the moment it looks like all the Peeka and Roxburgh Red Apricot courier orders will be dispatched sometime next week.
Will be in touch with everyone closer to the time.
The Sun is appearing to be playing peek-a boo with us hence the PYO Moorparks may now commence about the 28th of January.
PYO Nectarines will start up on Monday 23rd of January.
Billington plums will be on the Stall early next week.
This Summer has been a bit lousy so far but I reckon eating, bottling, freezing and stewing fruit is the answer to all this doom and gloom.
